About Carbon 20

The purpose of Carbon 20 is to strenghten the cooperation on CO2-reductions between city governments and companies.

Carbon 20 strives to:

• Encourage at least 100 companies to work devotedly with CO2-reductions. The goal is to reach a total reduction of 20 % before the project ends in 2013.
  
• Develop models as to how city governments and companies can coorporate on climate initiatives.
  
• Develop tools to support climate initiatives in companies.
  
• Develop a set of guidelines for city governments to support and motivate companies to carry out climate-friendly initiatives.
  
• Shed light on climate issues common to city governments and the corporate sector. The objective is to improve the city governments’ ability to support climate initiatives in companies, also related to physical planning, transport, energy, building maintenance, renovation, and public purchases.

The project runs from 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2013. The project is supported by EU LIFE+ resources.

A Green Cities-project
Carbon 20 has been developed by six ambitious, Danish Green Cities city governments. These are: Allerød, Albertslund, Ballerup, Kolding, Herning, and Copenhagen. Furthermore the city government of Næstved also participates in the project.

Local Government Denmark is also a partner in the project together with the University of Aalborg.
